About

On earth as it is in heaven.

Do we truly know what this means?

The importance of faith to the human experience so often goes unnoticed. How often do we approach societal issues as God would have us approach them?

The urgent needs of our communities like poverty, identity, liberation, empowerment, and racial justice must become part of our spirituality—our theological exploration—our prayer.

As Episcopalians, we are always unraveling the intricate tapestry of scripture, worship, and fellowship to tie in threads from the world around us—the lived experience of the now. We embark on the journey of faith in search of the kingdom of heaven, here on earth.

This platform is for the seekers, the guides, the longsufferers, and all who yearn for the outpouring of God’s gift of radical transformation to permeate the world around us.

Our authors and contributors comment on both the eternal and the today—both deeply exploring eternal ideas and questions, and raising awareness of vital needs in our faith community.

Together, we will explore the mysteries and challenges of our time, seeking to align our earthly endeavors with the divine vision—so that, on earth as it is in heaven, we may move closer to realizing the prayerful aspiration of a harmonious world.

Hi, I’m Anna.

My faith journey has been a rollercoaster, filled with raw moments of struggle and self-discovery. Whether being disillusioned, facing abuse, or just confronting the messy aspects of life in the church and a relationship with God, I’ve been a seeker of truth my entire young adult life.

Prayer, scripture, and fellowship were the compass that helped me navigate through the shadows and find a renewed passion for my faith. By reading, writing, and being part of the church I’ve found authentic healing and rediscovered that there is more to being an Episcopalian than just going with the flow of the centuries.

A new day is dawning for people of faith , and I created The Episcopal Forward to analyze, comment upon, and process the renewal of the church.

Today, we invite you to become part of this progress with The Episcopal Forward in one of three sacrificial ways.

1) Submit your writing to be published on The Episcopal Forward. To become one of our contributors, please submit your work to submissions [at] episcopalforward [dot] com. We welcome thought-provoking pieces that blend theological and liturgical perspectives with insightful commentary on current events and issues. Ensure your submissions adhere to the basics of style and are no longer than 1000 words in length—and especially ensure they embody our commitment to fostering constructive dialogue within the Episcopal community and beyond.

2) If you appreciate the work we do at The Episcopal Forward and would like to donate, consider making a donation to your local Episcopal parish instead. Your contributions empower your local diocese to embrace diverse perspectives and foster meaningful conversations. We do not rely and will never be dependent on donations or subsidies to carry forward this work.

3) The most impactful way to support The Episcopal Forward is by sharing our articles on your social media platforms and encouraging your friends, family, and community to join the conversation. By amplifying our content, you play a vital role in expanding our reach and fostering a more inclusive dialogue within the progressive Christian community. Together, let's build a network that encourages thoughtful engagement and understanding.
